COSMOS + Osteoderms
The omittion of some osteoderms randomly is creating some nice apertures. A further stage of the evolution makes the osteoderms mildly articulated. Elevation of osteoderms for gills comming soon.

Ok,
the strategy for the articulation of the surface seems good (you still have to work on the apertures and their respective scales), but you are still struggling with the overall figure/body. Try to be more rigorous with your initial figure.
