Pattern Design For Hendecahedron

Post Options

I have made 3 main families of patterns.

FAMILY 1: By understanding the logic of the polygon's structure, I would like to create patterns which can reinforce the strength at the corners and along the edges by small holes, while bigger apertures can be created in the middle of the surfaces. Result: changes of density
FAMILY 2: The edges take the shape similar to the petals of flowers, while the of cuts on the petals simulate the plication effect of the petals.
FAMILY 3: Series of linear zigzag cuttings creates plumage effect, different directions and dimensions are tested out.

After discussing with Sandra, I will focus on Family 1 and develop 3 more variations/differentiations of this Family and develop 2 more Family of patterns. One of them may focus on looking at how 2 cubes can be connected by themselves via different ways of paper cutting.

Alice,
very good! I think you are on the right path here. The short and clear explanation of the three families makes sense. I´m curious for your further explorations of the first family. Especially in terms of Ornamentation and performance...
Also the issue of gradients.
Actually, you may be working here on a "Venation" problem, but it is up to you to formulate the relation.

Keep up the good work,

Matias
